HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PPE DONATED DURING COVID-19
At the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, one immediate concern became abundantly clear — the need for PPE for the entire county clinic system. The Foundation sent a call to action to our community to assist us in donating PPE. What happened next surpassed our wildest expectations.
Some of the earliest people to kick off the PPE donation campaign were Linda Pham, owner of Soleil Luna Nail Spa; Vivian Nguyen, owner of Bella Nails; and donation drive organizer Lori Jabagchourian. These three women got the help of former San Francisco Giants player Andres Torres and reached out to the Foundation. These amazing community members were able to donate 3,000 masks, 59,450 pairs of gloves, and several other pieces of crucial PPE. Word spread of their donation and caught the attention of local news. Their efforts started a chain reaction. Soon, Bay Area businesses and organizations like Salesforce, Trina Turk, UCSF, Sewa International, Okta for Good, My New Red Shoes, and more all came forward to donate box after box of masks, gloves, gowns, and face shields. As of May 2020, over 100,000 pieces of donated PPE have been distributed by our Foundation to facilities like the San Mateo Medical Center, County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, and clinics across the Peninsula.
