The Bundle of Joy program was developed response to the recognition of the importance of a positive start in life. This two-phased program ensures that women receiving prenatal care are provided with an easy-to-follow, comprehensive booklet, written by compassionate clinicians in English and Spanish, detailing things to expect in upcoming months up until and beyond the birth. When the mother gives birth, she is provided with a special reusable baby bag, filled with hand-knitted baby items, including hats, blankets and socks, as well as diapers, clothes toys and other items. An unexpected outcome of the program has been the immense community support we've received from local knitting groups, mothers' groups and other social-minded organizations, which have donated their time and resources providing exquisitely knitted items for the program. At this time, there are twelve community groups involved. The Bundle of Joy program is always looking for friendly volunteers to hold 'Baby Showers" and to support the program, which serves around 1500 women each year.
