San Mateo Medical Center prides itself on its innovative spirit! They are not only a public hospital leader in technology, but they are nationally recognized for the innovative way they deliver healthcare.

The Foundation supports this innovation. In the spirit of patient experience, safety, efficiency and effectiveness, in the past year, we provided funding for the following:

  • $1 million for Electronic Medical Records and Electronic prescribing, making San Mateo Medical Center the first public hospital in San Mateo to implement this system, advancing clinic communication and efficiency and patient safety and quality of care
  • $1 million to fund the installation of a CT Scan device, which provides faster, more comprehensive and more accurate information about a patient's health status
  • $50,000 to support the Health Care Interpreters Network, which provides culturally competent, visual language interpretation, to enhance safety and patient experience in our rich and culturally diverse community
  • more than $600,000 for Critical needs of SMMC, including necessary equipment and supplies, as well as the renovation of the Fair Oaks Children's Clinic
