Healthcare Heroes, the employee run program at the San Mateo Medical Center designed to raise funds for equipment and program updates. Because all committee representatives are hospital staffs who volunteer their time to this program, there are no administrative costs. All funds go directly to meet unbudgeted and/or unexpected departmental needs and therefore improve patient satisfaction.
Typically, funds are raised through a voluntary payroll deduction plan, one dollar or more per pay period. Singular donations also are accepted in any amount. Examples of what this group has funded include cardiac chairs for long-term care, diabetic lunches for one year, crash carts, cardiac monitors, patient movers, outdoor patio and cafeteria furniture and a beautiful fountain on the main floor of the hospital.
Healthcare Heroes’ “hands on” approach to fund-raising has involved dances, holiday parties, talent shows and even “bring your change to work” days. This unique program is the employee arm of the San Mateo County Health Foundation. San Mateo County employees work hard to provide quality service and are proud that their fund-raising efforts benefit their patients, the people they serve, and their fellow employees.
Please join Healthcare Heroes in supporting the San Mateo Medical Center and the important work it does!
